Tasting Notes:

“This J. Davies Cabernet Sauvignon has dark perfumed aromas of Marion berry jam with hints of cocoa, vanilla cream, and tobacco. The palate is bold, complex and fruitful. Flavors of blueberry and wild mountain blackberry mingle with baking spice and dark chocolate, and are seamlessly brought together with fine grain tannins that sustain a long, dense finish.”

-Winemakers Sean Thompson and Hugh Davies -The Davies family, proprietors of Schramsberg Vineyards in Napa Valley, presents its eleventh vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon produced from the historic Diamond Mountain vineyards they purchased in 1965 and replanted to Bordeaux varietals beginning in 1994. The wine is named in honor of patriarch Jack L. Davies. “Davies Vineyards’ flagship wine is the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon (94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot) from Napa. Its dark ruby/purple color is followed by a complex bouquet of underbrush, spring flowers, blueberries, black raspberries and blackcurrants. The color is a healthy dense ruby/purple. The wine possesses good acidity and freshness and a boatload of complexity. There is no shortage of richness or concentration in this elegantly-styled Cabernet. Drinkable now because of the vintage character, yet it should age nicely for 15+ years.”
