There are aromas of apple, pear, fresh fruit, pineapple, vanilla, vanilla and floral notes in the glass. The 2014 is a rich creamy wine with tropical flavors of apple, pear, citrus, peach, apricot and fig. This vintage has has nice balance and a very long aftertaste.
-In 1975 the family built a small winery and Hank Wetzel, oldest son of Maggie and Harry, produced Alexander Valley Vineyard’s first wine in 1975. His wife Linda set up the books and managed the winery office. The 3rd generation of the Wetzel Family is now active in the winery and continues the family tradition at AVV. “The 2014 Chardonnay is meant to be a fresh, refreshing, citrusy style of Chardonnay, as they prefer the more green-apple, lemon zest styles of Chardonnay, while at the same time keeping French oak to a minimum. There is some oak in this wine, but the overall impression is one of a stylish light green/gold Chardonnay with plenty of lemon blossom, good, pure, clean fruit on the attack, medium body, terrific acidity and overall balance. This is an all-purpose, delicious, crowd-pleasing style to drink over the next 3-4 years.”
