While Amarone aims for perfect craftsmanship and a full, pristine range of aromas, full rein is allowed to this category of wine to express all its natural exuberance. The nose is immediately almost bursting with fruit, followed by fresh floral notes and pepper. After prolonged ageing, the wine proffers more evolved nuances of fruit preserved in alcohol and aromatic herbs.
The Allegrini Family has played a leading role in the history of Fumane and of Valpolicella since the 16th century and has passed on the culture of wine-making from generation to generation.
“The 2008 Recioto della Valpolicella Classico Giovanni Allegrini is striking. A melange of mocha, espresso, black cherries, menthol and licorice saturates the palate as this rich, dense wine opens up in the glass. The 2008 stands out for its minerality and freshness, both of which keep the intensity of the fruit in check. A blast of blackberries, cassis and camphor intermingled with attractive floral notes rounds out the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023.”
