The Fleur de Bouard vineyard is on the edge of the Pomerol plateau, not far from Saint Emillion. The terroir in the north Pomerol consists of gravelly and sandy-gravelly soil, which holds the heat and encourages early ripening of the grapes. The subsoil contains iron residues that give the wines the violet aroma characteristic of some of the finest Pomerols.
