The Poggiotondo Estate rests on the hills in the north-western corner of the Chianti region, between the Montalbano and Arno Valley, 123 acres of vines are joined by more than 2,000 olive trees. The story of Poggiotondo begins in 1968 with Carlo Antonini, teacher, passionate about agriculture and beekeeper, bought the properties historically belonged to the Conti Guidi, an ancient noble family who owned lands in Tuscany and Emilia Romagna, and has given the village its name, Cerreto Guidi in the Medioevo.
Mediterranean climate and calcareous soil, organic farming for 28 hectares of vines places at 100 mt of altitude; the focus on to the native grapes such as Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino and small part of Trebbiano, as per the original “Chianti Recipe”, are the ingredients for real wines with great vitality and purity.
Poggiotondo is organic certifyed since vintage 2014, after 3 years of conversion.
