This is a “cool” set of wines to showcase three different growing regions along the coast of California. The Carneros and Sonoma Coast regions are areas where Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are extra happy and Paso Robles has the cooler nights and warm days to help Cabernet explode with flavor!
Chardonnay, Clos Pegase, Carneros, 2018
Beautiful clear lemon color in the glass with aromas of peach, melon and bakers spice. Stone fruit and cantaloupe on the palate with notes of brioche and toasted coconut.
Completed in 1987, Clos Pegase was designed to be a temple to wine on a 47 acre Calistoga vineyard. The winery has a total of 450 acres, mostly located in Carneros. The Clos Pegase label features Pegasus, painted circa 1890 by the French artist Redon.
Pinot Noir "Route 116" RouteStock Cellars, Sonoma Coast, 2018
Bright garnet in color with aromas of wild sage, blood orange peel and flavors of red fruits, orange peel.
RouteStock is an endeavor of Wilson Daniels. After more than forty years of working with some of the world’s greatest wine families, RouteStock has access to exceptionally high-quality fruit sources from the world’s most highly regarded wine regions. The wines are aged 100% in oak.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Justin Vineyards, Paso Robles, 2017
Dark purple-ruby in color with aromatic ripe black and red cherries. The palate is dry and full-bodied with black cherry, cassis baking spice.
Justin and Deborah Baldwin acquired the land in 1981 and planted 72 acres that same year. Initially they were wine growers, selling to other wineries. Then, in 1987, they harvested their first grapes bottled under the Justin label. As Paso Robles, California has soared in number of wineries and gained in popularity, Cabernet Sauvignon has firmly taken root as the region’s number one varietal.
