The name Tikal refers to the spiritual Mayan ruins in Guatemala and is also Ernesto’s son’s name. The original artwork of this passionate dancing couple was created by Ernesto’s close friend and artist, Ariel Mlynarzewicz.

“The 2014 Patriota is a blend of 60% Malbec and 40% Bonarda from Vista Flores and Ribadavia respectively, matured in new and used oak barrels--60% French and 40% American--for one year. The warm year suited the Bonarda nicely, which is grown in a different zone to start with. I feel a much better integration of the oak compared with previous vintages. It feels like the style is turning towards more freshness and less oak. This is ripe and juicy, full of character.”
