The saying “adversity breeds greatness” is very apropos for this vintage. The extreme drought of 2013 allowed for the vines to receive very little rainfall. However our water treatment center ensures there is always sufficient water stored in the caves for such a drought. As a result, in 2013 we were able to manage a drought vintage with out damage to the fruit quality. The resulting wine exhibits exceptional concentrations both in structure and aromatics. At first glance, the nose exhibits an inviting whiff of raspberry liquor that is anchored by wet stones drying on a hot summer day. The fruit flavors are a parade of black and blue fruits that slowly transfer to sweet black tea with a gentle yet firm finish. This wine is a perfect excuse to dust off the decanter and stash a few bottles in the back of your cellar if you can resist drinking every bottle young.
-While those would be mere words to some, the Palmaz family — along with its cellar and winery teams – treats them as an ethos. From day one, our mission has centered on combining the age-old traditions of fine winemaking and viticulture with the most up-to-date research and technology, seamlessly fusing innovation and institutional knowledge. This unique approach, along with our gravity-flow winery (referred to as “the Cave”), enables us to craft distinct wines worthy of a place of honor in your cellar.
