Boüard Family
Rooted in the prestigious Saint-Émilion region of Bordeaux, the Boüard family boasts a rich and storied history in winemaking. Their journey began in the early 19th century when Henri Boüard established Château Angélus in the heart of Saint-Émilion. Over the years, the family has meticulously cultivated their vineyards, remaining deeply committed to quality and tradition. This dedication has elevated Château Angélus to the status of Premier Grand Cru Classé (A), one of only four châteaux in Saint-Émilion to achieve this highest distinction, alongside Château Ausone, Château Cheval Blanc, and Château Pavie.
Generations of the Boüard family have continued to innovate while honoring their heritage. Hubert de Boüard de Laforest, a prominent figure in modern winemaking, has played a pivotal role in advancing the family legacy. Under the stewardship of Hubert and his daughter, Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, Château Angélus has embraced modern techniques and sustainable practices, ensuring the estate's wines remain industry leaders. The family’s Château La Fleur de Boüard property is also celebrated among the top vineyards of the region.
Coralie de Boüard, a key member of the family and second daughter of Hubert, has brought fresh perspectives and new energy to the business. She manages the new Clos de Boüard property in Montagne Saint-Émilion, continuing the family's passion for quality and solidifying their reputation as one of the most influential families in Bordeaux winemaking history.
We have been consistently purchasing their wines for over two decades and are extremely proud to continue to showcase and support this special family’s winemaking efforts!
Revealing a healthy ruby/purple color as well as fresh, lively notes of black cherry & blackberries, violets and spice, it's medium-bodied, has a balanced, silky texture, good mid-palate depth, & a great finish.
