The Pelassa 2017 Barbera d'Alba Superiore San Pancrazio is a delightfully fruit-driven wine packed tight with black currant, summer plum and Morello cherry. Despite the darkness of the fruit, the wine surprises with its bright, high-energy personality. As it opens in the glass, you might find savory tones of spice, forest floor and truffle-infused earth. The finish is dry, but the quality of fruit is deceivingly sweet and soft. This wine offers terrific value.

Winemaker's Notes

Very intense ruby red colour. Complex and intense bouquet, with ripe berry fruit mixed with a good hint of vanilla; round, harmonious, very complex on the palate. Endowed with excellent persistence and flavour, a wine of exceptional finesse and considerable class.

Ageing:

24 months, 12 of which in casks, tonneaux and 12 months in bottles. Characteristics: very intense ruby red colour. Complex and intense bouquet, with ripe berry fruit mixed with a good hint of vanilla; round, harmonious, very complex on the palate. Endowed with excellent persistence and flavour, a wine of exceptional finesse and considerable class.

Pairings:

goes well with typical fresh Piedmontese pasta, roast red and white meats, game and spicy cheeses.

History

The story of our winery is one that began in the Roero region in 1960, a story of vision, adventure and sincere flavours.

Since the 2000s, Pelassa Winery has been taken over by his sons, Davide and Daniele. Davide, a tractor driver by vocation, is in charge of getting the best grapes to the winery. Daniele, on the other hand, is the face of Pelassa Wine, the more commercial and communicative soul. Together they run a future-oriented winery.
