Revealing elegant aromas of mulberries, dark wild berries and spices, the 2023 Croix Mouton is medium-bodied, charming and enveloping with a succulent mid-palate that segues into an elegant, taut finish. This blend of 80% Merlot and the rest of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot is a terrific effort.

A solid, complex, nuanced Pomerol, the 2023 Château La Croix offers plums, ripe black cherries, loamy earth, and spicy oak on the nose. Based on 100% Merlot and aged 16 months in 60% new French oak with the balance in once-used barrels and amphora, it's medium-bodied and nicely textured on the palate, with ripe tannins, good balance, and a solid finish. Drink this charming, outstanding effort over the coming decade. Drink 2026-2035.

Previously known as Chateau Mouton, Croix Mouton has a long history in the Bordeaux region. The property was written about in the 1881 Ferret edition, next to many well-known Bordeaux wine producers of the time. However, the estate has a much longer history dating back to the ancient Romans who planted vines on the property. The Gallo-Romains remains found in its soil are proof of an ancient Bordeaux wine producing past.
