The 2019 Vigna Marrucheto is a single-vineyard Brunello from one of Banfi’s prized sites. The exceptional 2019 vintage produced a wine with impressive concentration, freshness and classic Sangiovese character. It spends at least 30 months in large French-oak casks.

Wine Spectator – 95: Classic Sangiovese character centered on cherry with iron, savory/blood-like nuances, menthol and tar. It's tightly structured and energetic, with assertive tannins and excellent persistence.
James Suckling – 95: Berry and cherry aromas meet ash and subtle citrus. Fine tannins, freshness and energetic fruit give it impressive finesse and focus; Suckling notes that additional bottle age will benefit it.
Wine Enthusiast – 94: Black cherry and fig are contrasted by camphor, graphite and dark chocolate. Citrus-driven acidity lifts the palate while polished but substantial tannins provide structure.

Nose: Black cherry, ripe plum and dark berries with violet, cinnamon, black pepper, graphite, tobacco and earthy notes.
Palate: Full-bodied and vibrant, with concentrated cherry and plum complemented by iron, herbs, dark chocolate and spice. Fresh acidity and firm, polished tannins provide excellent structure and balance.
Finish: Long, savory and mineral-driven, with lingering cherry, iron, menthol, spice and tobacco.

This is a serious, cellar-worthy Brunello, combining the generosity of the outstanding 2019 vintage with Vigna Marrucheto's structured, savory personality. It's approachable with a lengthy decant, but 2027 onward should reveal substantially more complexity.
James Suckling 95 Points
Black-cherry, ash, bark and dried dark-mushroom aromas follow through to a medium to full body with a solid sense of tannin and acidity. Polished and focused. Needs time to soften a bit, but shows fascinating oyster-shell and iodine undertones. Best in three or four years.
