Sweet berries, cassis, red plums and fine peppery spices on the nose. Medium-bodied, this has chalky, lightly chewy tannins and spiced berries throughout. Good length in the finish. Drink from 2026.
The property
Coralie de Boüard and her husband Loïc Maillet acquired Chateau Close de Bouard in 2016, located in the Montagne Saint-Émilion satellite appellation.
The vineyard
Château Clos de Boüard watches over a vineyard covering an area of 30 hectares. The vines, around 40 years old, planted on south-facing clay-limestone hillsides, produce a great mountain wine.
Winemaking and aging
Pre-fermentation maceration at 8-10°C. Alcoholic fermentation. Maceration for 3 to 5 weeks. Malolactic fermentation in new barrels. Vinification by plot, accompanied by manual punching down. Aging lasts 18 months in barrels (30% in new barrels and 36% in barrels of one wine).
Assembly
Château Clos de Boüard 2022 is made from a blend of Merlot (85%), Cabernet Franc (10%), Cabernet Sauvignon (5%)
