93pts Decanter
Fruity and alive on the palate, succulent, grippy and forward, lots of generous blackcurrant and cherry fruit with lifted acidity and firm tannins that grip and hold in the best way. Round and complete, still quite concentrated flavours, but offset by flecks of freshness throughout. Has a sense of seduction too it with weight, chew and push, but still refined. Really lovely.
92-93pts James Suckling
Nice transparency with a medium body, and currant and berry character. Hazelnut and sandalwood. Hints of orange peel.
90-92pts The Wine Independent
The 2022 La Tour de Bessan is deep garnet-purple in color. It rocks up with ready-to-go notes of blackcurrant pastilles, juicy blackberries, and raspberry coulis, plus hints of wilted roses, Ceylon tea, and clove oil. The medium-bodied palate is lively and light on its feet, with firm, fine-grained tannins texturing the generous fruit, finishing perfumed.
91pts Jane Anson
Rich ruby colour, full extraction, red roses, baked plum and cassis fruit with black pepper and rosemary spice. Tannins are a little drying, with everything so knitted down that the light is having a hard time coming through. Welcome mandarin peel note of bitterness on the finish. Eric Boissenot consultant, Marie Laure Lurton owner. 32hl/h yield.
