The 2022 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is a blend of 94% Semillon, 5% Sauvignon Blanc, and 1% Muscadelle, with 145 g/L residual sugar. Medium straw in color, it charges out of the gate with gregarious notes of mango pudding, juicy pineapple, and honeycomb, followed by hints of candied ginger and orange blossoms. The palate is full, rich, and decadently spicy, with a lively backbone to balance and epic length.

This super Sauternes has fantastic sliced apricots, pear tart, creme brulee and tarte tatin. Floral. It's full-bodied yet compacted with a complex and very sweet palate. Lovely texture at the end with salted caramel. Wow. 230 grams of residual sugar. Drink or hold.

Ripe, very ripe, and over ripe pineapples, mangos, candied oranges, apricot, flowers, honey, and marmalade create the intoxicating perfume. Perfectly perched between its decadently, sweet side, and its raciness on the other side, this is sublime. The roasted passion fruits, mangos, apricots, pineapple, roasted cashews, and saffron on the palate are all slathered with honey. This has the potential to be a future legendary sweet wine. If this is your thing, grab it as only 1,200 cases were produced. It is going to be stunning on release. But if you prefer your sweet wines with age, this will evolve for 3 or more decades. The wine blends 95% Semillon with 5% Sauvignon Blanc. Drink from 2025-2055. 97-99 Pts.

Marvelous complexity achieved. Full of aromas and flavors from so many dimensions: fresh apricot, dried apricot, honey, saffron, acacia...mouthwatering acidity makes the wine extremely well balanced. A superb Sauternes!
Winery Notes
Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey, Premier Grand Cru Classé in 1855, is located on the heights of the village of Bommes. Adjoining Château Yquem, its 18-hectare vineyard is planted on the third terrace of the Sauternes appellation, at an altitude of over 50 metres. The mosaic of terroirs – located in the four communes of Bommes, Sauternes, Fargues and Preignac – gives a typicality, formerly recognized, to the wines of Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey. The plots of “L'Enclos” and “Maisons Rouges” represent the historic heart of this exceptional terroir; the others are spread out near various classified growths of the appellation in the form of islands of five hectares each (Yquem, Suduiraut, Guiraud, Rieussec and d'Arche).
