2024 Tenuta di Fessina Erse Etna Bianco
93 points James Suckling; 89 points Vinous. A beautifully vibrant Etna white made primarily from Carricante, with a striking volcanic-mineral character. Aromas of lemon peel, lemon paste, white flowers, mountain herbs and almond mingle with subtle candied-fruit and toasty notes. The palate is medium-bodied, energetic and finely textured, combining bright citrus and orchard fruit with pronounced flinty minerality. High-altitude acidity provides excellent tension, leading to a long, savory, saline finish with persistent herbal and mineral notes. The overall impression is elegant, focused and refreshingly dry, with the distinctive volcanic character of Etna.
Winery profile: straw-yellow with green highlights; aromas of broom, mountain herbs, lemon peel, almond and white flowers; the palate is flinty, savory, highly acidic and toasty, with a persistent herbaceous character and saline finish.
Blend: 90% Carricante, 10% Minnella. Fermented and matured in stainless steel without oak, then rested in bottle for approximately 6–8 months.
This is the kind of Etna Bianco that delivers Chablis-like tension and minerality, but with a distinctive Sicilian volcanic personality.
