Aromatics are dominated by dark, freshly picked berries accentuated by alluring notes of lavender and sage. Muscular and tightly coiled, a firm mineral driven reduction enhances the cool, sleek mouthfeel. Despite its serious nature and inherent tension, it remains juicy and accessible. There is an array of black and purple fruits, blood orange, licorice, pine needle, violets, black tea, and clove. It is dense and gains weight on the mid palate thanks to ripe skin tannins and hints of polished oak, exuding class and pedigree on the refined finish.

  The 2023 Pinot Noir Estate Reserve stains the palate with an exotic mélange of blood orange, pomegranate, spice, new leather and cedar. A Pinot of tremendous density and sheer power, the 2023 Platt will need to shed some of its baby fat. This is a quintessential wine from one of the very greatest sites in the United States.

  The Reserve Pinot is a barrel and block selection (mostly from blocks 23, 26, and 13 in 2023) that leans into the vineyard's structure and age-worthiness. In the glass, it's deep-hued and dense in color. The nose is surprisingly citrusy and juicy, with notes of blood orange, tart berries, and sour cherry. There's also a savory herbal layer from fresh tarragon, a hint of wild fennel, and a subtle salinity that carries from nose to palate. This is a wine to tuck away for a little while, for when you're ready for something with more complexity.

  Sports a winey, sappy intensity, with iris and hibiscus notes liberally draped over a core of mulberry, raspberry and boysenberry coulis. There’s a mouthwatering spine of anise and apple wood through the finish, along with the vintage’s succulent acidity, giving this length and a well-structured feel as the fruit keeps pace. Best from 2026 through 2038.

  Full-bodied yet lifted, with aromas of ripe red fruit, both fresh and brooding. Mushrooms, delicate exotic spices and pine as well. Assertive and powerful on the palate, showing crunchy red fruit integrated with linear acidity and taut tannins.
