Stark-Condé Stellenbosch Syrah 2020 — Professional Ratings

• Wine Spectator — 92 points: Ripe blackberry, boysenberry and dark fruit are framed by milled pepper, anise, graphite and lavender. Fine tannins and plum-skin acidity carry through to a long, lightly chewy finish. Drink 2020–2035.

The wine is 98% Syrah, 1% Roussanne and 1% Viognier. Stark-Condé describes the style as more Old World-influenced and elegant, with floral aromatics and finely textured tannins; the small amounts of Viognier and Roussanne are co-fermented for additional aromatics and texture.

Summary: 92 points Wine Spectator. A savory, elegant Stellenbosch Syrah combining blackberry and boysenberry with pepper, anise, graphite and violet/lavender notes. Fine tannins, fresh acidity and a long finish give it good aging potential.
