Nose:

Even after 6 months resting in George Dickel rye barrels, the core identity of this tequila is unmistakable. That classic NOM 1579 minerality is front and center - clean, crisp, and just edging into briny territory thanks to the oak influence. You also get a solid hit of cooked agave, which is always a good sign. There’s a lot going on here: black pepper, cinnamon, and a touch of citrus brighten it up and keep it from getting too heavy. Palate & Mouthfeel: This is very agave forward, which I love. Right behind it is a layer of black pepper that adds a nice kick without overwhelming things. The rye barrel aging brings in a subtle oakiness, and that salty, mineral quality from the nose carries through. There’s also a hint of vegetal earthiness and more of that warming cinnamon spice. It’s got a smooth, round mouthfeel that gives it a nice weight without being syrupy. Finish: The finish is mellow but really pleasant. You get a sweet-spicy cinnamon tingle that lingers on the tongue, but it fades out cleanly. It all ends on a high note - nothing fancy, just clean and satisfying. Final Thoughts: This is a really solid reposado. The rye barrel aging adds some nice complexity without taking over, and the minerality gives it character. It’s a great balance of agave forward and thoughtful aging. Definitely something I’d pour again.
