90pts James Suckling
Deep and succulent dark-fruited character here with raspberry jam, spices and herbs. Medium- to full-bodied, juicy and tense with bright acidity and a fruity finish.
90pts Wine Enthusiast
Strawberries, blackberries and vanilla rise from the glass before ripe and fresh berries, cream and milk chocolate spread across the palate. Aged in American oak barrels, this wine is full bodied but not very tannic, easy to sip and enjoy.

Although the weather was a bit cooler than usual early in the 2019 growing season, there were no unusual temperature swings during bud break of flowering. The moderate temperatures continued through the summer, allowing the grapes to mature gradually. After 2018's record setting crop size, 2019 swung back to an average yield. This vintage is a blend of 6 Zinfandel lots, each lot was de-stemmed, fermented separately, and then aged in 25% new American oak barrels for 12 months.

After purchasing the historic Cyrus Alexander homestead, Harry and Maggie Wetzel strived to create a thriving agricultural lifestyle on the property. They raised their children along with their vines in Alexander Valley, providing inspiration and encouragement as they developed the estate together. Decades later, the fourth generation of their family is growing up amongst vineyards and next door to the working winery that is known around the world as “AVV”. You could call it a family tradition. We’d be inclined to agree.
