Winemaker's Notes
Gleams with a pale, straw-yellow hue. The aromas open with a compelling bouquet of fresh citrus fruits, including zesty lemon and ripe grapefruit. On the palate, it showcases a harmonious blend of bright, tangy lime peel, white tea, and a distinctive mineral character reminiscent of flint and wet stone. The vibrant acidity provides excellent structure and lift, leading to a chalky and bright finish that lingers.

The Domaine Papagiannakos Assyrtiko is without a doubt one of the world’s great white-wine bargains—one member called it “one of the best white wines I've had in 2023,” while another described it as “easily worth twice the price.” Focused and mineral-rich, it’s an undersung beauty whose complexity, elegance, and finesse stand toe to toe with the finest whites in the world.
History
The first barrel was flled with the local Savatiano wine, harvested by our great-grandfather, Vassilis – thus christening the Papagiannakos Winery. Grandfather Giannis Papagiannakos follows in his father’s footsteps and expands the family vineyards with Savatiano vines and pioneering investments in equipment. Upon his return from studies in the United Kingdom, and after attaining initial valuable experience in the Winemaking sector, Vassilis Papagiannakos commences his lifelong focus on the Savatiano variety, the heritage variety of the Attiki Vineyard that had not yet received the recognition it fully deserved. The third generation Papagiannakos bottles Savatiano for the 1st time, with its iconic label that remains to this day. The focus on the promotion of this heritage variety has been continuous and its recognition has come in increased sales international awards and an ever-improved quality. The Vineyard continues to grow in expanse and New Vines of Malagouzia, Assyrtiko and Agiorgitiko are also planted. The new bioclimatic Papagiannakos Winery is now complete. A wonderful example of sustainable architecture that is harmoniously integrated with the landscape. The building has been awarded by the National Institute of Architecture. The fourth generation continues the ancestoral tradition, with the same philosophy and love for the wine from our terroir, drawing also on new wine-making knowledge and methods.
Papagiannakos wines are today exported to 25 countries, and the visitor to the Winery is offered a holistic experience, which begins with a visit to the vineyards, to the production facilities, and ends with a wine-tasting and initiation to the various wines of thePapagiannakos portfolio. The winery is set in an idyllic landscape, and is the perfect venue for any kind of event – personal or corporate.
