Tasting profile: Full-bodied and sophisticated, with black cherry, blueberry, cassis, dark chocolate, iron, sage, spearmint, oak spice and savory umami. Plush, generous fruit is balanced by polished, structured tannins and lively acidity, leading to a long, elegant finish.
The blend is 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 3% Merlot and 2% Malbec, sourced primarily from southern Napa and aged 19 months in barrel, 55% new French oak.
Bottom line: A seriously impressive inaugural flagship—rich and opulent but not overdone, with the freshness, structure and savory complexity to make it especially compelling.

The Cabernet Sauvignon The Gryphon is a new wine from Louis M. Martini. Intended as more of an entry-level offering, it offers fine quality and value for Napa Valley. The Gryphon is a blend from several top sites. Dark red cherry, plum, gravel, spice and rose petal open with air. Pretty savory and mineral accents punctuate the finish. This is very nicely done.
