Tenuta San Pietrois one of the oldest companies in the production of white wine in the region of Gavi, located on the hills of the commune Tassarolo, between Piedmont and Liguria. The name comes from the San Pietro small church named after St. Peter's in the territory of the Benedictine monastery, which was founded in the XI century. The first vineyards were planted just monks. And then over the centuries became the property of the Dukes, Marquises and kings. Tenuta San Pietro now represents a synthesis between ancient and modern. Reconstructed surrounding buildings and erecting new buildings, 5-star hotel complex are equipped with conservation and transformation of energy and reduce the harmful effects on the environment.
Tenuta San Pietrovineyards occupy an area of about 30 hectares in the hills with exposure to the south-east and south-west. The favorable climate, the influence of ocean currents, clay-limestone soils are those elements that allow you to organize the production of high quality wines.
A passion for research is the hallmark of the company, adhere to the principles of bioorganic agriculture. In the process of growing grapes is not allowed the use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides - only natural supplements made from natural materials and animal waste. Wine farm workers practiced observation of the phases of the moon and other planets in order to determine the optimal timing of planting, cultivating and harvesting.
