Lorenzo Vineyard 2021
96pts Wine Advocate
The 2021 Chardonnay Lorenzo Vineyard comes from Wente selection vines planted in 1974. Its aromas unfold slowly from flinty tones to apricot and ripe citrus, beeswax, acacia and oyster shell. The palate is satiny and expansive without weight, and it flows through the mouth balanced by a crescendo of shimmery acidity. It could use several years in bottle to unwind.
Bressay Estate Vineyard 2021
97pts Wine Advocate
The 2021 Chardonnay Bressay Estate Vineyard is the debut of about an acre and a half of fruit from Hyde Wente selection planted in reddish soils—it's the first time the fruit has been bottled on its own, winemaker Andy Smith tells me. It's dynamic and full of personality, with an explosive perfume of apricot, candied citrus, lemongrass and coriander seed, unfurling layers of candle smoke, pastry and toast as it spends time in the glass. The palate is equally as intense, its concentrated, perfumed fruit supported by a pleasurably grippy texture. It's balanced by a focused spine of acidity and has a very long, energetic finish. Wow!
Charles Heintz Vineyard "Isobel" 2019
94pts Vinous
The 2019 Chardonnay Isobel Charles Heintz Vineyard is forward and racy, which makes it a good choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years. Tropical fruit and soft, oily contours - classic Heintz signatures - give the 2019 so much sheer appeal. Jasmine, passionfruit, mint, and tangerine oil linger.
