Tasting Notes
A Bordeaux-style blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 13% Petit Verdot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Malbec. Aromas of cassis, blackberry, tobacco, truffle, leather, bay leaf, anise, and spice lead to a plush, layered palate with silky tannins and remarkable balance. Secondary notes of earth, cocoa, and cedar have emerged beautifully with age.
Overall Review
The 2006 Cain Five is considered one of the winery's standout mature vintages. Combining Napa richness with Bordeaux-like restraint, it offers complexity, elegance, and exceptional aging ability. Critics praised its harmony, depth, and evolving tertiary character, while collectors continue to rate it highly nearly two decades after release.
Drinking Window: Now through 2030+; fully mature but still showing impressive vitality.
