91pts James Suckling
A clean, focused white with aromas of green apples, lemons, white grapefruits and wet stones. Medium-bodied with bright acidity and plenty of tension. From organically grown grapes. Drink now or hold.
91pts Wine Advocate
This wine is most representative of the Umani Ronchi house style. Fruit is blended from two zones, Le Busche and San Sebastiano, from old vines on loose sand and clay soils. The 2021 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore CaSal di Serra is crisp and almost crunchy in texture with plenty of melon, unripe peach, aniseed and sage. It offers good structure and acidity too. This wine was first produced in 1983.
Winemaker's Notes
Straw yellow color with golden hints, to the nose it shows intense and persistent perfumes of wild flowers and aromas of yellow pulp fruit such as peach, apricot and golden apple. To the palate it’s rich and velvety with a good dose of freshness and sapidity to balance the great softness. Dry finish, persistent and intensely fruity.
Ideal with fish dishes, oven-cooked or grilled, roast white meat and fresh cheeses.
History
The Umani Ronchi story is one of ancient vines, land, and people. It began more than half a century ago at Cuprmontana, in the ehart of Verdicchio Classico country, and has spread further. Today, Umani Ronchi is owned by the Bianchi-Bernetti family, who since 1959 have been making superb quality craft wines, coaxing the best out of the Verdicchio and Montepulciano grapes that find their finest expression in the Marche and Abruzzo regions. For over ten years, Umani Ronchi has been a member of the Istituto del Vino di Qualità - Grandi Marchi, which unites over nineteen of Italy’s greatest wine brands. Umani Ronchi continues to be family-run with Michele Bernetti at the helm, and his father, Massimo, acting as chair.
