Wine Review: This straw-colored Chenin Blanc based wine from Pine Ridge is a very good value wine. It opens with an apple and apricot bouquet with hints of lemon zest and a touch of ginger. On the palate, this wine is light bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is fresh, bright, and approachable. The flavor profile is tonic water and lime blend with notes white tea and almond. I also detected some hints of white peach. The finish is quite refreshing. The wine is a perfect summer quaffer. Serve it chilled at the beach. It will not last long.
Winemaker Notes: Crisp, bright, and vivacious! The Chenin aromatics bring citrus characters of tangerine, yuzu, pear, orange blossom, and honeydew melon. The Viognier aromatics tend to be a little heavier on stone fruit of peach and mango with hints of honeysuckle. The mouthfeel is clean, crisp with no oak or malolactic fermentation. The slight residual sugar and acid are in balance to add a viscous mouthfeel in the midpalate with a crisp finish. This versatile wine pairs well with a number of dishes, from light salads to seafood, and most notably with foods with a hint of spiciness – its subtle sweetness provides balance alongside a touch of heat.
Blend: 80% Chenin Blanc, 20% Viognier
