The origins of the Forner family date back to 1920, when they founded "Vinícola Forner," a family business located in Sagunto (Valencia) dedicated to the production, marketing, and export of local wines. Exiled to France during the Civil War, Enrique started working at the family vineyard in the Minervois (southeastern France), before launching his career as a wine merchant in the Rhône and Loire Valleys (France) in 1952. At the end of 1962, he sold these two operations and purchased two Grand Cru Classé châteaux in the Haut-Médoc region (Bordeaux) in 1963—Château Larose Trintaudon and Château Camensac—with the aim of creating some of the finest wines in the world.
In 1968, he returned to his native Spain and, like a century earlier when winemakers and merchants from Bordeaux landed in La Rioja fleeing the phylloxera epidemic, he chose the village of Cenicero, in the heart of that prestigious Denomination , to pursue his great dream.
Currently, his daughter Cristina Forner is at the head of the family business.
