Decanter
The ripe, plummy fruit character is a bit restrained on the nose but opens up on the palate with notes of earth, mineral, and smoke. The texture is classic for Gevrey in a cool year, with reasonably strict tannins and fresh acidity that lead to a persistent finish. This wine is a selection from the 35 parcels (10 hectares in all) that Faiveley owns in Gevrey. They began to pick in the village on 23 September and finished before the rains here. The grapes were mostly destemmed before fermentation, and the wines are now ageing in cask.(CC)
James Suckling
This self-confidently dry and well-structured Gevrey-Chambertin has pronounced earthy and savory notes with a hint of soy sauce. It really benefits from some aeration in the glass, the delicate red fruits opening up nicely. Try to be patient, because even just one more year in the bottle will really help this prototypical expression of the appellation.
Wine Spectator
Shows spice and earth notes, plus cherry, blackberry and appealing vegetal accents. Dense, with assertive tannins lining the long finish. (BS, Web-2023)
