Winemaker Notes
The estate grown Zinfandel is a charmer with its aromas of blueberries, violets and raspberry preserves and ripe flavors of blackberry and plum with a spicy white pepper note. Juicy and fruit forward, this vintage is marked particularly by its rich, lengthy finish.
For over a century, five generations of the Kunde family have farmed their 1,850-acre estate in the heart of Sonoma Valley. The winemaking mission is to carry on that tradition by crafting elegant, estate-grown, sustainably farmed wines with a real sense of place - beautifully balanced and expressive of their dramatic vineyard landscape.
From the winery;
As stewards of the land for five generations, we believe sustainable farming results in the production of higher quality wines and ensures the viability of our estate for generations to come. We are committed to a holistic winegrowing approach: nurturing the soil, respecting the native ecosystems on our property, employing dry farming practices, creek restoration, public education, and always working to reduce our environmental impact.
At the winery, sustainable practices are integrated into our daily routines - from solar installation, lighting upgrades, recycled water, lighter packaging materials, and company-wide recycling programs. For its efforts, Kunde Family Winery has been awarded a Green Business Program Certification from the Bay Area Green Business Program, received the State of California’s highest environmental honor, the Governor’s Environmental and Economic Leadership Award, and was one of the first wineries in California to become Certified Sustainable by the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance.
